CHILD CARE STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Child Development Teacher
Reports to: Childcare Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit, committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the direction and supervision of the development director, the position's responsibilities are to ensure a safe and high-quality childcare program that implements a daily program in accordance with DHS and Keystone Stars Standards.

The Child Development Teacher is responsible for directing all aspects of classroom curriculum and program activities. Teacher’s supervise and guide child development in a safe and healthy environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Interact compassionately and respectfully with children.
• Communicate in a clear, concise and positive manner while using Listen First skills.
• Understand, and commit to the support of the YMCA’s cause and our role in the community as a leader in Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
• Influence an environment where children can foster social skills, feel encouraged, learn to problem solve, and pursue experimentation.
• Attend all required department meetings and training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training & Work Experience

• Child Development Associate (CDA) strongly preferred
• 2,500 documented hours of childcare experience
• Minimum age of 18.
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or Human Service related field strongly preferred
• PA childcare file clearances

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Certifications Requirements

• CPR certified
• NSOR Clearance
• FBI Background Check
• State Police Background Check
• Child Abuse Clearance
• Health assessment and TB test

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
